Class 28(1) In a heated vat A for cooking potato crisps, an endless wire gauze belt B driven through a variable speed gear has its lower run below the surface of the fat or oil, the latter being withdrawn by a pump K and returned through nozzles J at one end of the vat so that slices fed into this end are carried by the circulating fat or oil under belt B, the vat having a cover M with an outlet connected to a flue. Belt B passes round two rollers C, D, roller C being driven, and the slices are respectively fed to and removed from spaces E, F. The oil is circulated from space F to space E'through pipe L, pump K, pipe JSP1/SP and nozzles J.
