788,605. Arc lamps. CONRADTY, E. K., CONRADTY, P., CONRADTY, M., and CONRADTY, C. June 9, 1954 [Feb. 3, 1954], No. 16952/54. Class 39(1). As shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3, the anode carbon of a high-power arc lamp producing two overlapping Beck effects comprises two parallel cores bSP1/SP, bSP2/SP of various cross-sections contained in a non-circular carbon covering a and separated from each other by a narrow web c of the material of the covering of a thickness of at least 0À2 mm. The cores contain salts of the rare earths. The surfaces of the web can be plane parallel, zig-zag, Fig. 1, undulating, Fig. 3, or oppositely curved in mirror-image relationship, Fig. 2. The walls of the carbon covering can vary in thickness as shown in Fig. 2. The inner walls of the carbon covering a can be smooth, longitudinally grooved or longitudinally ribbed, the cores being correspondingly shaped.
