817,335. Removing tyres from tyre presses. McNEIL MACHINE & ENGINEERING CO. Oct. 12, 1956 [May 17, 1956], No. 31133/56. Class 87(2). A tyre T which has been moulded between a lower mould section 2 and an upper section 4 pivotally carried by rollers 8, 9 is raised out of the lower section by a diaphragm 15 and is then engaged by front and rear stripping arms. The front arm comprises a tube 20 fixed to rail section arms 22 which are guided to move in a desired path by a roller 32. The rear stripping arm comprises a tubular bar 75 connected to another tubular bar 76 by members 77 and two parallel arms 79 carrying a long roller 82 and another pair of arms carrying a roller 86. In operation, fluid pressure is supplied to a cylinder 100 to rock a shaft 62 causing a cable 50 to raise the front stripping arm and a cam slot 126 to raise the rear stripping arm. When the arms have reached the position shown in Fig. 3, a switch is operated to stop the movement of the arms to allow the diaphragm to drain and to return to its tyre receiving position. When the diaphragm reaches its lower position, it actuates a switch which causes the front stripper arm only to continue its upward movement to tilt the tyre until it slides over the rear stripping arm and along a take off conveyer 16. A switch is then operated to reverse the cylinder 100 and the arms return to the idle position. If the tyre sticks at the upper end of the conveyer 16, the roller 52 gives the tyre a kick on its return movement.
