Class 75(2) A lampshade adapted to be held inverted against a wall or ceiling comprises a stiff or frame-stiffened shade, of translucent material 17 having one opening fitted against the ceiling, and a second opening spaced therefrom, a lampholder support which is either integral with the frame or is held by, attached to or forms part of a ceiling fitting, such as a rose 15, and a helical tension spring 21 one end of which is attached to anchoring means held by, attached to, or forming part of the rose 15 and the other end of which is detachably engaged, when the spring is stretched, with a cap 23 of opaque or translucent material fitting over the second opening to support the shade. The flexible shade material 17 extends between a large wire ring 18 and a small wire ring 19 joined together by stays 20 and forming the first and second openings. The shade encloses two bulbs 6 in holders clamped to wire supports each of which comprises a ring 8, and arm 9 and a downwardly projecting member 10 terminating in a loop 11. Each wire support is welded to a flat metal strip 13 which is clamped between the rose 15 and the ceiling and has a notched slot which can be engaged around a screw for securing the rose to the ceiling. The two loops 11 of the wire supports are located together and form the anchoring means for the upper end of the spring 21. The lower end of the spring is attached to an eye at the centre of the cap 23. The latter is of greater diameter than the smaller ring 19 and has stops 24 to engage against the ring and centre the cap. In a modification the stops are constructed to space the cap from the ring as well as to centre the cap. In a further modification the shade is made of stiff pleated material and no stiffening frame is necessary. The shade may have more than one opening closed by a cap and more than one spring.
