[Also in Group XVII] A device for sealing the longitudinal seam of a wrapper folded to tubular form about an article comprises a belt 21 which embraces part of the periphery of the feed-wheel 14 of a wrapping- machine (see Group XVII) and is pressed against the seam of a wrapper surrounding an article 11 in a pocket 13 of the wheel by a heated reciprocating-bar 27. The belt may be of glass cloth impregnated with polytetrafluoroethylene. Its speed may differ slightly from that of the feed-wheel to produce an ironing effect on the seam.
