A colostomy bag 1 is secured between a collar member 2 and an aperture 10 in a support plate 3, and an apertured pad 4 of resilient material is positioned between the collar 2 and the body of the person using the device. The collar is preferably of soft rubber with flanges 8, 9 so that the bag is firmly held or it may be rigid, with a single inner end flange so as to fit tightly into the aperture in the plate 3, when the bag is placed around it. The annular pad 4 is preferably faced with a rubber sheet carrying a rubber tube 6, and this ensures a good seal without excessive tension on the belt which is attached to studs 17 on the support plate 3.
