The swinging, cutter-carrying arm of Specification 831,360, which is referred to, is replaced by a boom 6 oscillitable about a vertical axis 8 where it is supported on the body of the machine 2 and carrying cutter wedges 7, which are so disposed that cutting can take in either direction of swing of the boom 6. Swinging of the boom is due to an hydraulic ram 5, 5a pivotally connected at 10 to a bell crank lever coupled to the boom. 6 at 11 and swingable about the axis 8. The ram and bell crank lever can be effectively positioned to either side of the boom as shown.
