An improved control mechanism for a traverse mechanism of a spinning or winding machine

In a control mechanism for the traversemechanism of a spinning or winding machine (e.g. a drawtwisting machine) of the kind when the stroke is controlled by limit-switches which are moved by a programming device to vary the length of position or both of the stroke, the movement of the programming device is controlled by the movement of the yarn. In the drawtwisting apparatus shown, the ring rail 1 is raised and lowered by a piston 3, the reversals of which are controlled by cams 6, 7 which engage limit switches 8, 9. These slide on a guide 12 under the control of cams 15, 16 operatively connected to draw-rollers 27 through worm-gearing 19, 20 and changewheels. Two or more limit switches 8, 9 may be provided at each end of the stroke, one of which may be selected in each case. The cams 15,16 may be adjustable on a common shaft and switches 28 may control a winding yarn on a waste spool before winding proper commences.
