[Also in Division G5] Tape is unreeled from a roll 5 mounted in a bin 1, the bin having at least one sloping side 3, such that as unreeling takes place the reel descends progressively into the bin to initiate a signal when the reel has descended a certain distance. As shown, the hub 10 on which the roll is wound slides down slots 9 to actuate an electric switch 11SP1/SP by engagement with an arm 12SP1/SP or a switch 11 by engagement of an arm 12 with the roll periphery. The switches 11 and 11SP1/SP are in series with a warning device 13 which gives an audible and/or visible signal upon closure of the switch to indicate when a predetermined amount of tape has been unreeled. Additional contacts may also stop a motor, not shown, driving tape feeding means. Tape is withdrawn from the roll by feed rollers 16, 17 the roller 17 being driven by a shaft 23 having a clutch 29 actuated by a bell-crank lever 32 rocked through the linkage shown by a tension detecting roller 44. The roller 44 is urged into loop-forming engagement with the tape by a spring 47.
