[Also in Division B8] Pulverized fuel is fed alternately from feeders 10, 10SP1/SP to pressing cylinders 12, 12SP1/SP under the control of slides 11, 11SP1/SP, and the plugs of fuel formed by pressing pistons 13, 13SP1/SP mounted on a reciprocating carriage 16 are ground by a head 30 and the pulverized fuel fed to a gasifier by oxygen or oxygen-enriched air supplied to the casing 19 of the grinding head. The water-cooled grinding head 30 is mounted on an overhung shaft arranged for limited axial movement. The casing 19 of the grinding head and the pressing pistons 13, 13SP1/SP are water cooled, and the carriage 16 is slidably supported on a bed 17 in which the eccentric drive for the carriage is mounted.
