Wood plies are impregnated under vacuum with an aqueous solution comprising an ammonium salt and polyethylene glycol having a mol. weight of 600-2,000 in a ratio of salt to resin of 10 : 1 to 4 : 5. The salt may be mono or di ammonium phosphate or ammonium sulphate.
