A radiation shielding concrete composition comprises at least 25% comminuted carbon by gross volume, cement in a gross volume at least equal to the carbon and an aggregate at least part of which is comminuted lead. Cements specified are Portland cement, plaster of Paris, magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride.
