Method of continuously mixing granular solids with liquid or thermoplastic binders comprises supplying the materials to a mixer 1 at a predetermined rate to provide a mixture of desired consistency, regulating the discharge opening 10 as the consistency varies and, when starting up, introducing the binder or binders only when a given consistency is reached to provide an optimum volume in the mixer and ensure thorough mixing. The consistency is measured as a function of current consumption of motor 6, changes of which control via device 14 a servomotor 12 which activates valve 11. Ammeter 13 indicates the current and is referred to when starting up.
