摘要
In a process for the propagation of yeast cells rich in protein and nucleic acid by incubation in a nutrient medium containing carbon sources nitrogen sources and inorganic nutrients, either the medium contains alkane with 11 to 18 carbon atoms as principal carbon source and Torulopsis famata var. M - 6 (ATCC No. 15586) as starting yeast cells or the medium contains alkane with 9 to 18 carbon atoms as principal carbon source and Candida zeylanoides var. No. 2265 (ATCC No. 15585) as starting yeast cells. The incubation is carried out aerobically at an incubation temperature of from 28 DEG to 37 DEG C., at a pH between 4 and 8, for from 2 to 4 days. Preferred alkanes are a mixture of n-octadecane and n-undecane in equal parts, kerosene, naphtha, gasoline, light oil and heavy oil. (The use of n-hexane, n-heptane and n-octane is disclosed also.) The alkanes can be used in admixture with sugars and other utilizable carbon compounds, such as organic acids.
