摘要
Impure triallyl isocyanate is decolorized by irradiation, in the liquid phase, with light of wavelength 2000 to 6000 A for a period of time sufficient to effect a substantial reduction in the colour of the triallyl isocyanurate. The impure triallyl isocyanurate may be obtained by reaction between cyanuric acid and allyl chloride in the presence of aqueous sodium hydroxide and, optionally, a copper catalyst, diallyl isocyanurate being obtained as a by-product. If the impure triallyl isocyanurate is highly discoloured, it is preferably subjected to one or more conventional purification treatments prior to the irradiation. Examples are given.ALSO:Triallyl isocyanurate which has been decolourized by irradiation, in the liquid phase, with light of wavelength 2,000 to 6,000 A. (see Division C2) may be polymerized to a hard colourless resin by the addition of a trace of benzoyl peroxide.
