[Also in Division E1] An extruded, aluminium alloy, channel - sectioned member is cut along its web, at an angle to the longitudinal axis, to produce two generally angle - sectioned members 14, each of which has a socket along one edge into which the opposed edge of the other angle-sectioned member 14 is welded to produce a post, for, e.g. a crash barrier. The ends of the original channel - sectioned member are trimmed before it is cut longitudinally (Fig. 3, not shown), to make the base and top of the post lie in planes which are not at right-angles to the longitudinal axis of the post, so that the post, which is eventually mounted on a base-plate, slopes forward in use.
