Thiocornine (I) and thiamamidine-cysteine phosphate (II): HOOC- -CH2CH2-S-NH- -NH2 (I) is a pharmaceutical (it promotes the degradation of fat in fatty livers and is a strengthening agent for the liver). (II) is a cofactor (i.e. vitamin) used in the synthesis or biosynthesis of methionine; it is important for the flavour and nutrient value of foods.
