Fluxetine was rapidly degraded by Fe~(III)-TAMLs/H_(2)O_(2). Intermediate fluoxetine aldehyde susceptible to nucleophilic attack provokes the avalanche of degradation. The discovered degradation mechanism is intriguing and is potentially instructive in green pharmaceutical design.
