[Also in Division F2] In a system for equalizing pressures in twin tyres each tyre is associated with a valve having a piston 6 urged on to a seat 5 by a spring 8, a passage through the piston being controlled by a non-return valve 19. Upon securing the outlet port 4 to the inflation neck of a tyre a finger 20 in the outlet opens the tyre valve; the latter may be dispensed with since its function is undertaken by the non-return valve 19. When air is supplied to the inlet 2 it passes to the tyre via the non-return valve: upon the tyre pressure reaching a given level it unseats the piston 6 to directly connect the inlet and outlet. Each inlet 2 of the twin wheel set is connected to the plenum chamber of a pressure gauge (F), (Fig. 3, not shown), the chamber having an inflation valve.
