Sound deadening.-The keys 7 of a keyboard are acoustically isolated from their associated keylevers 3 by air gaps 8. The individual keys 7 are supported directly in a keyboard cover plate 9 and in stepped guides 10 below the cover plate. In (Fig. 2) the cover plate and stepped guides take the form of a single integral unit (14) injection moulded from synthetic plastics material, whilst in (Fig. 3) the cover plate and stepped guides consist of two injection moulded plastics components (15, 16). Dampening material 17 and 18 is provided on the key levers and between the retaining collets 11 and the stepped guides 10.
