The X-ray television system allows structural changes in the bones, e.g. bone cancer to be detected by converting the signals from a black/white tv camera into colour signals which are then passed to a colour tv receiver. The colour produced on the screen by these signals depends on the magnitude of the local frequency ie fine structure of the scanned X-ray picture. The camera signals are passed via a frequency demodulator and amplifier to the intensity electrode of the colour receiver. The camera signals are also passed in the normal way to the R, G and B guns.
