1,261,267. Rotary drum-travelling band filter. ISHIGAKI KIKO CO. Ltd. 23 May, 1969, No. 26552/69. Heading BID. In a filter wherein an endless band 4 of woven fabric or wire mesh filtering medium is entrained round an inward-flow rotary vacuum filter drum 1, which dips into a tank 3 containing slurry to be filtered, and over external rollers (5 to 8) (Fig. 2, not shown), the edges of band 4 are pressed against annular rubber seals 15 (Fig. 4) adjacent the ends of the drum, where the band and drum pass through the slurry, by a pair of endless belts 30, each supported by a set of four pulleys to run round the lower part of the drum and back across the ends of the drum. Fig. 5 shows how one of these pulleys 122 may be adjustable to tension its respective belt. The drum surface is divided into cells 9, connected by conduits (12) to a rotary valve (13) through which filtrate is withdrawn from the drum. Cells 9 have perforate floors 16 with feet 19 engaging the drum proper and cell-separating walls (11) support the band 4.
