A speed control lever 10 of a motor 11 is moved to any desired position by the spring-loaded piston 13 in a single acting cylinder 5. The position of the piston is dependent on the air-pressure in the reservior 6 which is charged from the compressed air line 1 via an adjustable throttle valve 3 and a solenoid operated valve 4 which opens when energized by depressing the button 14. The pressure rise in the reservoir is dependent on the time the button 14 is held depressed whilst the pressure drop is controlled by the solenoid operated valve 7 discharging through the adjustable throttle valve 8 to atmosphere.
