1326813 Electrolytic refining of non-ferrous metals NORDDEUTSCHE AFFINERIE 19 April 1971 [31 Jan 1970] 20278/71 Heading C7B In a process for the electrolytic refining of metal, e.g. copper, either the electrolyte is purified of impurities As, Sb or Bi or supersaturation by these impurities is prevented by contacting the electrolyte with stannic acid. The stannic acid may be changed into the electrolyte, which is then filtered or decanted or it may be held in porous bags and suspended in the electrolytic bath. Alternatively, it may be used as in a conventional ion exchange column or in a drum covered both ends by a filter cloth, the drum or column being positioned in the electrolyte cycle. The stannic acid may be regenerated with H 2 SO 4 , HCl or HNO 3 .
