Respirometer airflow resistance chamber for pulmonary investigations - has differential pressure tube fitted with internal perforated baffles

The respirometer cell is used in conjunction with a differential pressure manometer for pulmonary investigations. The measuring cell consists of a plastics or metal tube (1) at each end of which are inlet and outlet ports (2). Each port is connected to a transverse channel (10) which is aligned with vertical airways (7) forming spaces between sets of perforated baffles (14) stacked across the width of the tube and running the length of the tube between inlet and outlet. Each baffle has internal corrugations and perforated side walls. The airflow resistance of the device can be adjusted by varying the number of baffles.
