Phototropic silver halide free glass - based on ternary oxide systems contg cadmium boron phosphorus and silicon

Glass or crystalline glass material contains a) at least one oxide of Cu, Zn, ag, Cd, In, Sn, Sb, Te, Au, Hg, Tl, Pb, or Bi, B) at least one of the oxides: SiO2, B2o3, Pb2O5, GeO2 and c) at least one alkaline earth oxide, alkali metal oxide or Me2O3. Dissociation and phase separation in the glass and the oxides under a) cause appearance of valency or conductivity bands, and the proportions of oxides under b) and c) are such to give a defect structure, and a recombination time of photo- and defect-electrons of 10-2 sec. Phototropic property has low temperature dependence.
