Sliding plastic construction supports - with low friction eg ptfe surface backed by vulcanisable elastomer

In the principal patent the support consists of a sheet of elastomer surfaced with a low friction synthetic resin e.g. a fluorocarbon in the surface of which recesses are moulded e.g. by balls. In the present improvement the layer of elastomer is vulcanisable and the impressions are made during vulcanisation so that the layer of elastomer takes up permanently the shape of the impressions. The sliding supports are used, e.g. in bridge construction. Pref. a layer of metal sheet is placed between two layers of vulcanisable elastomer pref. Neoprene (RTM) the surface layer of resin being of PTFE.
