1295509 Pipe-making machines SOC ANON FRANCAISE ETERNIT 21 Dec 1970 [30 Dec 1969] 60575/70 Heading F2P An installation for making pipes 6 from a hardenable pasty product such as asbestos cement comprises an endless conveyer-belt 8 on which thin layers of the pasty product are deposited and then transferred on to a rotary mandrel 2 supported by a carriage 5 movable on a track 29 which is parallel to the axis of the mandrel, the belt being associated with a resiliently mounted pressure head 10 which applies the belt against the surface of said product as it is deposited on the mandrel. In one embodiment, shown, a second belt 9 is provided, the mandrel being transversely displaceable to allow for increasing thickness of the pipe wall, by movements of bearings 3 in slideways 16 in arms 4 of the carriage. The pressure head 10 is mounted by springs, pneumatic or hydraulic means on a rigid table 12, the position of which is adjustable by means of screw 14 and fixed nut 13. Each belt 8, 9 guided and driven by pulleys 18 and tensioned by cylinders 17, is preferably of felt and is provided with a layer of asbestos cement by means of washing, suction and screening devices 20, 19 and 21 respectively. In other embodiments a drying device (28) is provided between belts 8, 9 or as a replacement for belt 9, to apply pressure on the pipe 6 as it is formed (Figs. 3 and 5, not shown). An installation (Fig. 2, not shown) for the production of pipes, including at least one of the above installations (23), further comprises hardening and demandrelling stations (24), (25) and a continuous circuit for the movement of a plurality of carriages.
