1341816 Maize harvester PIETRO LAVERDA SpA 21 March 1972 [21 Oct 1971] 13221/72 Heading A1F Maize cobs are husked and the grains are separated from the leaves by means of rotary cylinders, perforated baffles and a shaker device. Conveyors discharge the cut crop into a thresher 8 cooperating with a fixed counterthresher 9. Behind thresher 8 are mounted two cylinders 10, 11 which rotate in the same direction as but at different speeds to, the thresher. The first cylinder 10 has a plurality of rows of projections whilst second cylinder 11 has two rows of diametrically opposed projections and rotates at twice the speed of cylinder 10. Below cylinder 10 is a fixed transversely-ribbed perforated baffle 12 fixed at 14 to counter-thresher 9. Below cylinder 11 is an oscillating ribbed perforated baffle 13, the front end of which is connected via swivel links 15 to the rear end of baffle 12. Baffle 13 is hinged at 16 to shaker device 17 which drives baffle 13. Baffle 13 is arranged to direct cut crop onto a concave hood 27 from which it is deflected and thereby falls onto shaker device 17. This latter device comprises a frame 18 with a plurality of fillets 19 which extend transversely and a plurality of sieve plates 20 which extend longitudinally. Frame 18 is supported at its front end by a pair of oscillating double levers 21, pivotally supported by fixed transverse shafts 22, and the levers are oscillated by rods 23. At its rear end shaker device 17 is supported by swivel links 26 pivotally connected to fixed structure 25 relative to which the device oscillates in a substantially horizontal direction. In the rear part of device 17 lighter materials are prevented from passing through the underlying sieve plates 20 by an upwardly directed current of air. The "cleaned" grains are fed into a container via an elevator conveyor, and from this container grain is removed by a worm 7.
