A punch is moved in a zigzag path relative to a metal strip. Because of the to and fro movement of the punch, the parts which are punched out drop from different points. A transport slide (1) is moved mechanically along a moving belt. The slide picks up the parts at the points wheere they drop, and feeds them to a common delivery point. - The transport slide is moved by two drives, which are coupled together and which impart two movements to the slides. The two movements are both in the same direction but have different lengths. The second drive which is used is the drive which moves part of the frame (25), and gives the cross movement to the punch.
