Steelworks casting shop - with ingot trolley transfer stage

Ingot mould support trolleys are disposed parallel to one another in the casting pit so that they may be run onto a sliding stage which can be run across the pit and shop for transferring the trolley with the solidified ingot in the mould at right angles across the mould base preparation area to the stripping area in the mould storage area, where the trolleys are run off the stage at right angles to its direction of movement. The shop layout reduces the need for a transverse over head crane to connect the various bays of the casting shop, it also makes for orderly and efficient movements in the shop.
