The continuously flowing roving is drawn through a funnel-shaped compresser, the probe lying against the point of max. compression in the centre of the funnel. Through its leaf spring mounting, the probe is displaced by friction against the surface of the roving, for a measurement response strip to convert this movement into a reading representing fibre content, using inductive, capacitative, photo-electric or piezo-electric methods. A fibre measurement capability which is unaffected by ambient temp. or humidity, is achieved.
