Dyestuff lasers - with variable emission wavelengths and stationary pulsating light sources

The lasers are prepd. by subjecting a dyestuff able to fluoresce having polar electron structure, having the smallest possible permanent dipole moment in the electronic ground state and showing an increase in dipole moment of at least a factor 3 on transition into the first excited state, in a special polar solvent, to a variation in temp. The active material is 4-dimethylamino-4'-nitro-stilbene or 2-amino-7-nitrofluorene, in isopropanol or isobutanol.
