Attaching buttons to cushions - using needle with groove passed through cushion held in plates and thread tag punched

A machine for automatically attaching buttons to opposite sides of a cushions with a connecting tie thread has two plates, one of which is movable elastically to compress the cushion against the other plate, both being rotatable to position the cushion for the correct attachment of the buttons, and exchangeable for different cushion sizes, button configurations, and having holes through which a needle having a lengthwise groove of bulbous cross-section through which a hydraulic punch can pass a tagged tie thread, after the needle has been hydraulically passed through holes in the plates and through the cushion, buttons being placed, manually or automatically with their loops over the needle.
