Waxy compsns - contg wax, an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and a liquid plasticiser

Flexible neoplastic moulding compsns. consisting of a homogeneous mixt. of (a) 35-75 wt. % of a hydrocarbon wax with a m. pt. of 40-40 degrees C, (b) 10-50 wt. % of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with a melt index (ASTM D 1238) of 1-200 g/10 min and (c) 10-40 wt. % of a low volatile plasticiser which is liquid at 20 degrees C. Examples of suitable plasticisers are chlorinated paraffins and chlorinated diphenyl, esters of 1-12C carboxylic or sulphonic acids or phosphoric acid with 2-20C mono- di- or triols, etc. The prods. are made by mixing the molten components to form a homogeneous mixt. The prods. have good elasticity at low temps. and do not sweat out at higher temps. They are useful for making candles, wax models, relief plaques, metal casting forms, etc.
