1299224 Fenders PHEONIX GUMMIWERKE AG 19 March 1970 [6 June 1969] 13425/70 Heading B7S A rubbing strip for a vessel, quay or maritime apparatus comprises a contact member 6 formed as a water-tight box section with reinforcements 7 and 8, the contact member being slidable within holding means 4 and 5 between inner and outer abutments, and being biased outwardly by one or more resilient elements 11, e.g. of rubber. Holding means 4 and 5 are attached to structure 1 by bars 2 and 3, and additionally supported against lateral forces by plates or bars 10. Elements 11 are mounted on pins 13 attached to contact member 6, and have non- planar faces engaging structure 1. When fully compressed, elements 11 fill the volume 12 behind the contact member. A number of strips may be arranged with adjacent ends of .their contact members coupled together, and one or more resilient elements common to adjacent strips . (For Figure see next column.)
