1311710 Combine harvester DEERE & CO 23 Dec 1970 [27 Dec 1969] 61114/70 Heading A1F In a combine harvester, incompletely threshed material from the main thresher (not shown) is conveyed to a rethreshing drum 18 and concave 20, 30 having a tangential inlet 23 and a width equal to that of the grain cleaning device 17 of the harvester. In the first embodiment, Fig. 1, a rethreshing drum having a closed concave 20 and arcuate stripper bars 27 is positioned after the cleaning device 17 which conveys material to fall into inlet 23 from the end of grain sieve 13 and through finger rake 12 on extension 11 of cavings sieve 10. Threshed grain falling through sieve 13 is directed by inclined floors 15, 16 to a collecting auger 14. Material from the rethresher is conveyed by auger 25 to an elevator and is distributed on the cavings sieve 10 over its full width. In the second embodiment, Fig. 3, the rethresher is positioned before cavings sieve 10 and grain sieve 13 and is fed from the main thresher via a reciprocating stepped table conveyor 40 having a sieve section 43 through which already separated grain falls onto a similar conveyor45. The rethresher has an open concave 30 through which rethreshed material falls onto conveyor 45. As the material on conveyor 45 falls off onto cavings sieve 10 it is loosened by finger rake 46. Flap 44 controls the proportion of air from blower 41 reaching sieve 43 and sieves 10, 13. A third embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown) is similar to the second except that cavings sieve 10 is positioned between conveyor 40 and the rethresher. The rethresher may have an overload warning system operated by the deflection of the concave 20, 30.
