The power supply and control system are for a diesel locomotive-driven train which generates single phase current at a constant frequency. The diesel engine drives a synchronous generator with a number of three-phase windings and a voltage regulator acting on the field winding. The output from the generator is rectified by a thyristor system triggered via pulse transformers. The number of three-phase windings is at least two. The thyristor converter contains two flip-flops with logic inputs connected to the outputs of the control generator and feeding the input of the pulse transformer. The three-phase windings are separately controlled. The three-phase bridges are also preceded by dropper resistors and synchronising logic circuits.
