Printing plates are produced by (a) placing a hardenable synthetic resin on the prototype printing plate cylinder, (b) allowing the resin to remain in the cavities of the cylinder until it becomes hard, (c) lifting the coherent matrix from the cylinder, (d) filling the relief of the matrix by application of a synthetic resin, (e) allowing the resin to harden in the hollows and over the cross-pieces of the relief, and (f) removing the matrix from the formed positive printing plate. Method allows accurate formation of the surface and hollows of the prototype relief in the final positive plate.
