Aqs. solns. of indomethacin (I) suitable for injection are prepd. using a water-sol. dehydrocholic acid salt (II), pref. Na dehydrocholate, as solvent aid. The soln. is pref. prepd at =40 degrees C. A ca 0.18 wt.% soln. can be obtd. using a (II):(I) wt. ratio of 110:1. The solns. are more active (antiphlogistic, antipyretic, blood platelet aggregation inhibiting) than suspensions and are stable for long periods.
