As described, a multiplicity of blades are provided and intermediate work securing strips 3, 5 may be provided together with a further strip 52 of plastics foam material. The parts 3-6 are carried (Figs. 1 and 3, not shown) on arms (15-18) pivoted to a member (9) adjustable towards and away from plate 1 on a carriage (11) movable on a track (13). The upper member (45, Fig. 4, not shown) may have an aperture (46) to permit the bonding of the material pieces. In modifications the plate 1 can be mounted on a carriage and may, together with plates 4a &c., be curved instead of flat.
