Auxiliary water heating system - uses excess heat from open grate heat exchanger to augment conventional central heating boiler

The central heating auxiliary system comprises a fire grate (1) over which is a heat exchanger (2) beneath the hood section of a flue. Flow control rate of water is by means of an inlet valve (4) and an outlet valve (6) to a hot water cylinder and central heating regulators. In the circuit also thermostats which cut out the main central heating boiler feed when the hot water flow rate from the open hearth heater coil is adequate for the needs of the household. The system enables the best use to be made of the open grate with the avoidance of any excessively high temperatures.
