Orthopaedic bed for patients with slipped discs - adapts ordinary bed using shaped pillows under head and feet

The mattress (3) is fitted with the especially shaped pillows (2) and (6). The pillow (2) has a gently sloping portion (7) to support the patient's shoulders and a convex curved portion 78) which fits the neck part of the spinal column. Beyond the neck support (8) the pillow slopes upwards to support the head. The patient's thighs are supported by the gently sloping portion (5) of the pillow (6). The rounded corner (9) fits the hollow of the knee. The positions of the pillows (2) and (6) can be adjusted to suit the height of individual patients. The bed is particularly useful for patients suffering with slipped vertebral discs and can be used as an ordinary bed when the pillows are removed.
