Glucose is determined in body fluid by contacting a protein-free analysis soln with a reagent contg. a glucose oxidase, a chromogen, a water-soluble iodide and a water soluble salt of tungstic or boric acid or a uranyl salt as redox catalyst. The redox catalyst is pref. a tungstic acid salt e.g. Na tungstate, used in a concn. of 0.005-3.0%. A water-soluble fatty acid or ether, pref. polyoxyethylenesorbitan oleate (Tween 80) or polyoxylethylene lauryl ether (Brij 35), is pref. added as solvent aid in a concn. of 0.001-2%. The chromogen may be benizidine, o-, m- or p-phenylenediamine, o-toluidine, p-aminophenol, or pref. o-dianisidine.
