Austenitic stainless chromium-nickel steel - has improved deep drawing quality suitable for wash basins stored in stacks

The steel has the compsn. 17.0-18.5% Cr, pref. 17.5-18% Cr, 0-1% Si, 0-2% Mn, 6-8% Ni, 0.5-3% Cu, pref. 1.5-2.3% Cu, 0-0.08% C, 0.04% N, balance Fe and usual impurities. The austenite stabilising elements Mn, Ni, Cu C and N are present together following the relation 0.5 (%MN) +%Ni + 1.5 (%Cu) + 25 (%C + %N) = 10-13. The steel has very good deep drawing quality and does not tend to strain hardening due to its Cu content. Suitable for the prodn. of wash basins or domestic sinks by deep drawing.
