An air or gas washing unit contains a closed vessel into which the dust-laden air is introduced, the bottom of this vessel being sealed by the surface of the wash liq. An air suction device, starting at the liq. surface inside this vessel, leads into a mixing chamber, which is pref. of circular cross-section with tangential air inlet for the water-air mixt. at the surface of the liq.
