Electrically heated barbecue grill - infra red heating element in packing of crushed lava rock

The grill consists of a box housing with hinged lid. The infra red heating element projects from one side into the space. The volume of the housing around the element between the floor and the upper support grid for the food is filled with crushed lava rock - a porous stone. The design is intended to cook food by the traditional barbecue method without the use of combustible fuel. It reduces fire risks and contamination of the food with possibly harmful combustion products.
