Acetyldigitoxin and acetyldigoxin obtained in good yields - by direct enzymatic hydrolysis of the leaves of Digitalia lanata Ehrh

Leaves of digitalia lanata Ehrh are enzymatically hydrolysed at pH 3-3.5 and the mixt. is extracted with alcohol (1-2C) satd. with ammoniumsulphate. The glycoside obtained is purified by precipitation with ammonium sulphate in aqueous medium and extracted with concentrated solvents. Liquid/liquid partition in methanol water, benzene and opt. further chromatography gives very pure acetyldigitoxin and acetyldigoxin.
