Pulse DC supply for inductive loads - has saturating inductor between main thyristor and load to reduce commutating capacitors size by raising voltage
The pulsed D.C. supply circuit for inductive loads has a saturating inductor between the main pulsed thyristor and the load to reduce the size of the commutating capacitor by increasing the voltage. The commutating capacitor is coupled in series with a second thyristor across the main thyristor. The main thyristor is also bridged by the series combination of an inductor and an oppositely poled diode. The saturating inductor consists of two windings on a common core. The first winding lies between the main thyristor and the load and the second winding is in series with a diode across the load.
