The carrying handle comprises a band of strap material having a top member and side members merging to form corners, opposite ends of the band having cooperating fastener elements to be converged and secured together and to the container ridge to form a loop. The band is provided with integral ribs extending outwardly perpendicularly to the planes of the band, the ribs on the side members being of lesser thickness than that of the top member and corners and of lesser resistance to bending, thereby causing the upper portion of the band of assume a generally trapezoidal shape on engagement of the fastener elements.
